Not so long ago...

When I was in college I worked in the Publications Office with an old time typesetter named Buc. We were still pasting up by hand using filmstrips in a drum to set the type, but he had these wood type pieces from when they used to set the page in forms by hand (for some reason the word "ligature" comes to mind). He brought these in for me, and although I heard he has since passed away, I think of him each time I glance at them. It is also such a great reminder of how far technology has advanced in such a short time!
